New! Bio-Medical Engineer – Gr. 4-8

Would you like to design a prosthetic limb, learn how helmets keep our brains from turning to mashed Jell-O, turn plants to plastics, and stop a contagious disease? Then join us for an exciting hands-on-learning experience in biology, medicine, physiology, chemistry, and engineering while solving a variety of medical cases. As bio-mechanical engineers, campers discover how a prosthetic or artificial limb works as they design a model leg for an elephant, beak for an eagle and a prosthetic device for a fish; and engineer a helmet design for a crash-test dummy and discover how it works to protect the brain when skating, biking, or boarding!  As an engineering physiology team, campers create a response plan and design an antiviral to stop a highly contagious disease and unknown virus. Finally, as chemical engineers, discover how to engineer plants to plastics that are biodegradable! This camp teaches an inquiry-based design process and guides students through problem solving as they work through open-ended problems creatively!
