Registrations are for ENTERING 6th-9th graders.
Our TEEN CAMPS (Grades 6-9) allow young people the opportunity to have their own age group community and advanced camp programming.

Hours of Camp: 9:00am-3:30. Before & after care available. No aftercare on Fridays.

Camps on this page are for teens entering 6th-9th grade. Please do not enroll your child for a camp that requires a higher grade level than your child is entering. We try very hard to keep our camps and campers matched at the appropriate social maturity level, reading skill ability, and curriculum content.

Campers must bring water, snack, and lunch. We are NUT-FREE. Please do not bring peanut butter sandwiches or other nut types for the health and safety of all our campers.

Art & Design

*NEW 3D Art & Design – Gr. 6-9 Cost: $310 5/day camp

Do you like to think outside the box? This camp is a young designers dream come true! With an emphasis on the creative process and design thinking, campers will learn about form, structure, the elements of design and three-dimensional concepts as they construct their own 3D original products. Stretch your imagination and join us in this creative workshop environment!

  • Develop your concept and sketch your design
  • Explore sculptural forms with recycled or repurposed materials, clay, wire, metal and other building materials
  • Learn basic skills and creative aspects of hand-building with clay
  • Discover fibers and 3D soft construction

*NEW Spectacular Superheroes – Gr. 4-9 Cost $310/5 day camp

It’s a bird! it’s a plane! It’s an artist?! Do you have a love of superheroes and comic books? Do you imagine what it’s like to be in an Ironman suit, flying through Metropolis like Superman, or using the Lasso of Truth like Wonder Women? With this camp, we combine all of your favorite heroes (and villains!) into a week full of drawing, painting, sculpting, and more! Make a diorama of the Bat Cave, construct a glove with claws like Wolverine, paint a mask to keep your identity a secret, create magic weaponry, and even learn how to pencil and ink like professional comic book artists! Whether you’re an amazing avenger or an uncanny mutant, this camp is sure to be a lot of fun.

*NEW Sewing & Pattern Making! – Gr. 6-9 Cost: $345 5/day camp

Campers learn to translate an idea to a design on paper, sew by hand and on a machine. They learn pattern making skills, safety skills and how to create patterns for their designs. Once patterns are made, campers construct their designs using hand-sewing techniques and various sewing machine stitches. At the end of the week they create a custom project from start to finish.  Examples of projects throughout the week include: tote bag, beanie, tunic, house shoes, Chef’s Apron, oven mitt, zipper bag, pillowcase with applique and more! Sewing machines, fabric, and all sewing tools are provided. Students will take home their own personal sewing kit. Maximum of 8 students per camp.

EXTREME Art! – Gr. 6-9 Cost: $310 5/day camp

Take art to a new level! Whether you are an accomplished young artist or someone who thinks they can’t do any art, we promise you are in for a hands-on 3D fun experience with wood burning, tie-dyeing, drawing, printmaking, weaving, sewing, and clay sculpting that is truly EXTREME! Use charcoal to draw on aqua-board creating unique mixed media designs. Learn to use a special pyrography (wood burning) tool to “draw” designs, patterns and texture into wood and dried gourds. The ancient Greeks called it “writing with fire”. After the design is burned in, shading and coloring can be added. Discover the art of printmaking, how to carve linoleum blocks into stamps, create a masterpiece using natural items, and a collagraph abstract print. Dye fibers using natural indigo and tie-die your camp t-shirt to the EXTREME! Design and sew your own creature and sculpt 3D projects with clay. Create faux vase using a heat embossing tool and weave your own tapestry with card or hand looms from simple to complex. So much to experience…too little time!

Fantastic Beasts of the Mythical World – Gr. 6-9 Cost: $310 5/day camp

Grab your suitcase, catch the train, and join the hunt to find the fantastic beasts who await your arrival! Explore our guide to Mythical Creatures and learn where to find them. In this special wizard camp away from the muggles of the world, you will design your own suitcase, construct a Bowtruckle, paint an Occamy egg and Merpeople, draw a Phoenix and Doxy, sew a loveable Niffler, make a Deathly Hallows necklace, sculpt the wild Erumpent, and invent your own incredible creature! Throughout the week, take notes, create a map and draw sketches in your special journal. When our travels come to an end, take home your suitcase of beasts and note-worthy journal.

All Things (Harry Potter) Magical & Mystical – Gr. 6-9 Cost: $310 5/day camp

Let your imagination run wild! From hippogriffs, dragons, house elves, basilisk, and owls, to sorting hats, dementors, potions, spells…and all things magical, come join us for the time of your life! Search for Horcruxes throughout the week, team up for our Harry Potter Trivia Game, design a broom, and play the wizarding sport of Quidditch. Paint Hogwarts castle, sculpt Dobby or Kreacher house elf, draw mythical creatures, make a Marauder’s map, brew up Butter Beer, create your own wand and Death Eater’s mask, patronus, chocolate frogs, and lots, lots more! Bring your favorite HP book(s) to camp to freshen up on spells, characters, and discuss analogies to the muggle world today. So much magic to do!

*NEW Art Potpourri with Great Masters – Gr. 4-8 Cost $310/5 day camp

Design, draw, build, construct, paint and sculpt as you explore the great artists and engineers of the world while creating your own distinctive flair! Travel throughout time as you experiment with thick paints like Van Gogh, go wild with clay a la Pablo Picasso, design 3D Nevelson installations, experience first-hand the challenge of doing Michelangelo’s ceiling paintings, discover the playful work of Matisse, and create self-portraits like Frida Kahlo. Learn design engineering skills to build a castle like architect Julia Morgan’s Hearst castle, construct a prototype flying machine like Leonardo da Vinci and the Wright Brothers, and fashion rescue bots ala Robin Murphy. This camp offers, hands-on imaginative projects while combining art and engineering!

Culinary Arts & Food Science

Teen Chefs Cook! – Gr. 6-9 Cost $350 5/day camp

Put on your Chef’s apron and work collaboratively in small teams to create salads, entrées, vegetable dishes, and desserts (using healthy and fresh ingredients) of your choosing. Teams will research recipes and plan their dishes, create a grocery store shopping list, determine how much their food product costs, and prepare and cook their recipes. To add to the fun, foods produced from each team will be rated with a check-list for taste, healthy ingredients, cost and presentation. Everyone gets to vote! Take home leftovers to show off your skills and all the recipes to try out more at home.

Bakers Delight –  Gr. 4-8 Cost: $345

The best smell is bread, the best savor is salt, the best ingredients are local! What better way to celebrate our community and summer than to bake wonderful goodies from scratch using fresh ingredients! From traditional dinner rolls to protein packed savory cottage cheese dill bread, whole wheat cinnamon rolls, and sweet potato biscuits, your child will learn the simplicity of making fresh bread. Add to that, savory quiche muffins, blueberry scones and red velvet cupcakes colored with beet juice make a bakers dream for gifting and eating! Your camper will learn about shopping for fresh ingredients, how food is grown and why buying local helps our environment. Next we discover how to create basic white and yellow cake, along with healthy carrot cake and decadent fudge brownies. Is there more, you say? Oh yes, we finish the week off baking summertime fruit pies! Your child will go home with all their recipes planning to be the next great baking chef! Older and younger students are placed in age respective groups.

Digital Game Design

RPG Game Maker – Gr. 4-9 Cost: $305/5 day camp

Our RPG Maker camp shows campers how to create their very own epic role-playing game in the classic 2D game style like Zelda, Pokemon, Final Fanasy, and Dragon Quest! Create your fantasy adventure with playable zones and maps, develop characters with interactions and dialogue to fill your world, create allies and implement enemy encounters…all to achieve your ultimate quest! RPG Maker focuses on developing a story and creative worlds instead of mechanics and game physics, so that campers jump into creating their adventure immediately. Campers learn what RPG is, the history of RPG, all the basics, the character, and all aspects of the game. Make your role-playing games come to life! We use RPG Maker VXAce which features:

  • Library of characters
  • Tile-based environments
  • Enhanced map editor
  • Built-in character generator with custom sprites and faces
  • Custom items and weapons
  • Full inventory of weapons and armor

Once you have finished your world you can export your game to a portable EXE file that can be played on any Windows system. You can share it with your friends, your family, or even the Internet.

Sr. Minecraft Modding – Gr. 6-9 Cost $310   5/day camp

This camp can be taken repeatedly! Kids NEVER reach the end of modding projects. Requirement: Experienced with Minecraft and interested in coding. Programming is power!  Get a head start in life by developing invaluable coding skills with Minecraft.  Our camp will teach you to use JavaTM code to control your own MinecraftTM server, build mods and design your own ‘games within the game’.  This camp provides a foundation in fundamental concepts like algorithms, data types, variables and loops.  Coders become digital creators with real world skills that are transferable to the next phase of their programming development.  They will learn to apply raw code using a trial and error approach with graphical support when needed, an approach which is central to STEM subjects.  The unique code editor allows campers to learn at their own pace while participating in a group setting. Campers can share their mods with their friends in and out of camp! When this camp is taken multiple times, campers pick up where they left off and are challenged to write more complex code and build more mods. All campers ARE REQUIRED to have a Minecraft™ account for this class. Purchase a standard account and desktop version of Minecraft™ ($26.95) at minecraft.net/store. On the first day, campers must bring their login credentials for Minecraft to ensure a streamlined learning experience.

Engineering & Technology

*NEW Scibot (Humanoid Robotics) – Gr. 6-9 Cost $350 5/day camp

Campers will work with the biomorphic robot Robosapien. Robosapien™ is a sophisticated fusion of technology and personality. Loaded with attitude and intelligence, Robosapien is the first robot based on the science of applied biomorphic robotics. With a full range of dynamic motion, interactive sensors and a unique personality, Robosapien is more than a mechanical companion — he’s a multi-functional, thinking, feeling robot with attitude! Campers will learn programming and hacking basics and even turn their Robosapien into a Ninja Bot! Each camper will take home his or her own exciting Robosapien Humanoid. Campers will also build from scratch our Vibrobot soldering project and construct a bot using a toothbrush. While not required, you may consider taking Camp Robot Mechanic prior to this camp.

Aerial Robotics & Quadcopters – Gr. 6-9 Cost $350   5/day camp

Campers will explore aerial robotics technology and quadcopters with fun and engaging educational scenarios and challenges. This camp offers aviation flight skills and interactive robotics training, and encourages camper interest in the career fields of Science, Math, and Engineering. Campers will build prototype copters with the new technology and run test scenarios for safety, search, and rescue. Multiple teams of four will apply technology and planning to build a quad rotor designed for a specific first responder mission. Missions include: delivering pharmaceuticals to people in a disaster area, maneuvering the copter close to a (mock) hazardous waste container, and searching for a lost hiker. Campers will also operate and take home their own hand-size quadcopter at the end of the week!

Rocket Scientist & Engineer – Gr. 6-9 Cost $310  5/day camp

Campers experience the science and technology concepts of space flight by learning and experimenting with electrical circuits, a flight simulation using Kerbal Sandbox, architecture and building projects, and discover the physics of space travel. Campers will design, experiment and problem solve with computer software and hands-on projects, as they are immersed in the following programs:
* Kerbal Space Program – Space travel simulation, play in Career or Sandbox mode
* Estes Rocketry – Build and launch the Astroid Hunter rocket
* littleBits – Circuits and Electrical engineering applied to innovation
* West Point Bridge Builder – Design software, Civil Engineering

*NEW 3D Printing & 3D Pens – Gr. 6-9 Cost $320  5/day camp

Using both a 3D printer and the 3D Doodler pen, campers create fun and amazing structures and objects. 3D printing is perfect for prototyping, CAD development skills, and is just plain fun!  Campers learn these skills, create their design, render the model in 3D, and then “print” to a 3D printer which involves building up an object one layer at a time until it’s complete. With the 3D Doodler pen, campers learn engineering concepts and create objects by literally drawing in the air, either freestyle sketching or using templates to create larger structures. This is an interactive camp designed to teach campers how to optimize designs and create a three-dimensional object of almost any shape. Through out the week, campers learn about the history of 3D printing and how pens and printers have practical real life use in Science & Technology.

Masters of Engineering & Technology – Gr. 4-8 Cost: $325/5 day camp

Using the engineering design process, campers will design, create, build, tinker, test, and refine a variety of robots, machines and engineering projects. With Lego Mindstorms EV3, campers build and program robots designed to perform challenges such as SumoBots, Catapult Challenge, and Drawing Bot. Learn the basics of magnetic levitation technology, re-newable energy technology, and other design and engineering concepts while constructing mazes, egg-drop vehicles, and building a Magnetic Levitation Train to take home at the end of camp. Electromagnet, propulsion magnets and levitation magnets are used to create propulsion. These scientifically placed magnetic strips are built in the side of guide-way (included) to allow the train to hover stably and run smoothly at high speeds Throughout the week, they work as scientists and engineers as they progress through a set of challenges and projects that fully integrate science, technology, engineering, and math concepts, while prompting creative problem solving, communication, and teamwork. Some much creative, analytical, and mind-bending fun!


Programming with Scratch – Gr. 6-8 Cost: $305/5 day camp

Campers will be using Scratch, a software program from MIT. The program was designed for children, and teaches them the basics of programing as they create animated stories, video games, and interactive artwork. Using colorful programming blocks, campers drag and “snap” together the blocks to make a character (sprite) walk, speak, play music, or interact with other sprites. Since computer programming is considered the new literacy, young people now have an opportunity to put together multimedia programs without any previous programming knowledge. As children create with Scratch, they learn to think creatively, work collaboratively, and reason systematically.

*NEW Python & Raspberry Pi – Gr. 6-9 Cost $350/5 day camp

No experience needed! In this camp, young engineers will design, build and program their own electronic toys, games and gadgets with the RaspberrySTEM electronics development kit. Using real-world electronic components, Python (a common programming language) and the Raspberry Pi (credit card size computer), campers get hands-on experience working with the same tools used by professional engineers and developers. This camp is all about creating and there is no limit to the projects campers can create with programming and electronics. Coding is taught using the Python programming language and the Raspberry Pi provides campers a canvas on which to build thousands of electronic circuits and learn about electricity. When the camp is complete, campers will take home the Raspberry Pi and will have the opportunity to continue building, learning and playing on their own.

Programming with Alice – Gr. 6-9 Cost $305   5/day camp

Alice is an exciting, educational, and block-based software from Carnegie Mellon Institute intended to be a student’s first exposure to object-oriented programming. With a rich gallery of 3D characters and scenery, including a full Sims ™ character builder, students learn fundamental programming concepts in the context of creating animated stories, movies, simple games, and even virtual pets. These 3-D objects populate a virtual world and students animate the objects and program interactions between characters and their world learning the relationship between the programming statements and the behavior of objects in their animation. As they gain skills, the programming becomes more complex. Alice is designed to teach logical and computational thinking skills and fundamental principles of programming.


Advanced CSI- Forensics – Gr. 6-9 Cost $320   5/day camp

As advanced forensic scientists, our CSI campers delve into and attempt to solve a real murder case dating back to 1842! They gather and analyze evidence, use luminal and UV light to detect the presence of blood when the crime scene has been “cleaned”, complete a blood splatter analysis, take crime scene photographs, and complete a drug and poison analysis. To add to the intrigue, CSI campers play out the role of investigators, witnesses and suspects as they work together to solve this crime. Using FACES composite picture software, they recreate their own face or others and discover how Americans Most Wanted uses this same software to generate faces of suspects and victims. Campers will gather insects from a rotting carcass (pork chop) as they learn how CSI’s use their entomology skills to determine time of death.  This camp is guaranteed to enhance problem solving and critical thinking skills! Campers MUST bring an inexpensive digital camera to camp.

Advanced Emergency Vet Tech – Gr. 5-9 Cost $320   5/day camp

Campers take veterinary medicine to the next level! In this camp, your future Veterinarians will learn how to give an injection to an orange, practice suturing on a suture glove, perform a mammal heart dissection, investigate animal dentistry, learn to recognize stress and pain in animals, and perform a rat dissection and neutering procedure. Delve further into animal emergency conditions and diseases, understand the types of broken bones and how to set them, and discover what causes a horse to ”founder” or an animal to “bloat”. Prior participation in Emergency Vet Tech I suggested, but not required.

Chemistry Concoctions – Gr. 6-9 Cost $310  5/day camp

Campers spend the week conducting more than 25 fascinating and fun chemistry experiments. Emphasis is on safety, chemistry history, proper use of chemistry lab equipment, and an introductory understanding of chemical symbols and reactions. This camp is a great way to prepare for high school and even college chemistry. Experiments include: metal flame tests, paper chromatography races, fluorescent polymer slime production, litmus indicator solutions, electricity in a test tube, a boat that runs on soap, and many more!

Special Effects & Comics Making

Manga Maker Comics – Gr. 6-9 Cost $310  5/day camp

Make your own high quality comics and manga using ComiPo manga software!  Users can easily create their own unique stories and situations by choosing and posing one of the 3D characters! Throughout the week, you will also unplug and practice real world manga drawing techniques and look at real examples of Japanese manga. Create stories full of action and suspense by building a story arc with a beginning, middle, and end. Explore narrative elements, such as point of view, character expressions, and environments. Once you have learned the basics, you will have the opportunity to expand your creativity level and teamwork skills by developing a group comic series. With over 100 unique body poses and facial expressions to choose from, along with many background images, items, sound effects, word balloons… you have everything needed to make a visually impressive and professional looking comic come to life. You will learn about:

  • Developing a story line
  • Posing 3D character models and camera angles
  • Drawing manga characters
  • Creating Background Images
  • Using Comic Marks and Sound Effects
  • Customizing Your 3D Character
  • Working as a team to develop ideas and create a group comic to address world issues

Special Effects – Gr. 6-8 Cost $325   5/day camp

Campers learn the science behind Hollywood’s special effects and movie making. Learn various special effects make-up techniques working with the same materials used by professional make-up artists. These will simulate cuts, bruises, artificial blood, and old age. Activities will demonstrate concepts related to light, sound, perception, illusion, theatrical make-up and model building. One of the great features of this camp is that all campers will create (and take home!) a movie using techniques in Claymation and Stop-Motion Animation. Lessons include plot development, storyboarding, set building, filming, and sound effects. Is there a future movie director living in your house? This is a camp your child won’t want to miss! They will take home their very own special effects kit! Please have your movie-maker bring a 4G Flash Drive to camp to save their movie.
